Say "Hello," to your new bunkmate in Hell

S9224. No, it’s S99224. Kida repeated her number many times in her head while she was being escorted to her cell. It was a very long walk, so she had a lot of things to think about. She was hasty in her interrogation with the man from earlier, and regretted doing so now. Only now did she realize how she could have done so much more. However, Kida had always been the stubborn, impulsive type and would often make up her mind before realizing a better alternative. But no matter, what’s been done has been done. She'd make up for it now.

She looked up and saw that she had arrived. This is it, she thought. Deep down in her mind, she knew that she might go insane if she stayed here too long, so escaping was her only option.

Her guard opened the door and she was led into her cell. Her cellmate hadn't arrived yet. She watched the guard leave and then started inspecting her room. A toilet. Mattress. Pillows. A chest. Upon further inspection, it was locked. That's going to keep me awake at night. She kept looking around the room, until her eyes landed on a tiny security camera. Odd. Kida pulled the lone, hard mattress a little farther from the toilet, and sat down on it to patiently wait for her cellmate.

"...and then he started bawling his eyes out. Well, he would've been if he had any left..."

The guards flanking her showed no reaction. Chel huffed, displeased. She'd have to settle with only her new cellmate to torment with her odd humor. As she passed the other cells, some unoccupied at the moment, she ignored the looks and comments from those already inside their own cells. But she was also sizing them up, wondering which to avoid and which to make nice with. She'd already gotten a good read on that blonde guard during their little 'interview'. She probably wasn't the worst of the staff here, though.

The guards halted her in front of her new residence, which was already occupied it seemed. The guards uncuffed her before pushing her in, earning a death glare in the process, and locked the bars behind her. "Malditos hijos de puta." she hissed as she flopped down onto the pile of pillows and started scanning the room. The cell wasn't as bad as she was expecting. At least they had something to sleep on in here, and a toilet. And her new roomie looked like a smart girl. Maybe she'd know to keep her head down.

"Kida, right?" Chel asked, snuggling down into the pillows further. They weren't like her goose feather pillows back home, but they would do.

Kida looked up to see her cellmate and watched her as she entered and got cozy with the pillows. She was pretty, and seemed fairly normally at first glance. But nonetheless, this is a prison and you can never be too sure about anybody. She just hoped she wasn't stuck with a psychopath. If anything, she looked kind of crafty.

She raised her eyebrows, wondering how her cellmate knew her name. Kida's first thought was that she was just that well known, and whether or not that was the case, she still smiled to herself. Recognition was one of the things she'd always wanted. Yet, the thought that she knew more about her than Kida knew about her was slightly troubling, but only very slightly. "Yes, how did you know?" Kida smirked. "También veo que hablas español." (Translation: I also see that you speak Spanish.) Spanish was the second language she was taught, after her native French. They were both romantic languages so it was fairly easy for her to pick it up.

{OOC: Can we get translations to what you're saying in another language, please? XD Not everyone can read spanish. :3 (and I'm curious to know what is being said without having to use google translate all the time XDD)}

Chel was surprised when Kida started speaking Spanish too. "Nacido y criado en México, baby." (Born and bred in Mexico) she stated, smirking. "Miss Hardass Guard let me know some things about you while we were having tea and crumpets together." There was no telling if Kida had been interviewed by her however, but Chel didn't really care about it at the moment. "I'm Chel Vega. Sold drugs, employed a few mildly underage girls as prostitutes, may or may not have killed, or put out a hit for, a couple hundred people...Los pequeños cosas, y'know." (The small things...) She said as if it were nothing and just examined her perfectly manicured nails, kicking back in her fluffy pile comfortably like she were home already.

(She needs to make sure they're absolutely perfect! She won't be getting any more mani's for fifteen years, y'know. xD )

Kida listened to her story, nodding. That sounds like a pretty big deal. She wondered if the poor conditions of this cell had any relation to the severity of the crimes that the people who were put in them had. If that was the case, then that'd mean that the people who were in the last few cells after them were, are, monsters. Kida shook the thought away in her mind, she was probably just worrying like she normally does.

"Pfft, if you got Miss Hardass, then I got Mister Hardass," Kida leaned back a little, getting more comfortable. "Seems like you've got a lot on your record. Well, then you must know that I was an art thief, correct?" Though, my only crime was creativity and ambition. She looked up and smiled, remembering the months of planning that she put towards what would've been the perfect crime. "Heh, I tried to steal a dinosaur from the Berlin Museum. It may seem a bit excessive now, but it is one hell of a way to go out at least, no?"

"It's probably a requirement for the staff." Chel snorted, rolling her eyes. "She only told me you were in for grand theft and assaulting a cop. Nice one on the last bit." The only cops she'd been acquainted with were either the total carajos or on her payroll. Making it hard for the former was always a good thing in her mind.

"Pretty gutsy, I'll admit, but... where the hell were you gonna put that thing? Up your butt?" Chel laughed. A dinosaur... Of all things to steal. "Why not steal something a little more practical? Like weapons or something like that?" Had to be a fancy-schmancy thing or something. Frickin' artistic people.

Kida felt pretty comfortable with Chel, and was definitely relieved that her cellmate wasn't psychotic or anything. She could respect her, definitely. "I only attacked him because he was asking for it." She smiled, then rolled her eyes. "Men." She hoped that the emphasis she put on the word would be able to explain why.

She laughed with Chel at her suggestion about the dinosaur. "No, no. You must separate all of these things. You cannot just be driving with a five-story tall dinosaur attached to your car," Kida smiled. "Now, I don't mean to pry, but what I'm interested in is how you did all of that, and only now are you in prison. This is your first time being imprisoned, is it not?"

Kida genuinely wondered if she herself was maybe the odd one out, having never been imprisoned. It would not be for long though. Getting acquainted with Chel was fun, but tomorrow morning she'd wake up early and continue looking for a way out. However... She glanced up at the surveillance camera that she had spotted earlier. It would be even more difficult because now she wouldn't be able to tell Chel without whoever was at the other end of that camera knowing.

"Most of them are." Chel agreed, twirling her hair. She knew she was right about this one being smart.

She couldn't decided if that was good or bad.

Chel smirked at being asked about her time here. Yeah, she was pretty damn proud of only just being caught now. She'd been real careful about her activities, and made sure her gang had as well. Well...at least until... "I was just careful. Paid off who I had to. Threatened who I had to. Killed when necessary. And always cleaned up." It was hard to tell which was trickier. "But some guy I'd been competing with popped up behind one of my brothels and the cops I didn't have under my thumb arrested me for it, just as I was about to blow a hole in this one fucker's head for stealing from me. They couldn't prove the murder, or any others for that matter, but they could prove the girls' ages and the big ass stash of cocaine they all had too. Pendejas. Shoulda kept it somewhere else. And well, now we're roomies. Quite tragic, don't you think?" She added the last part in a sarcastic tone, rolling her eyes once more.

"It seems like you had quite the little empire going on," Kida smiled. "It is tragic indeed to be taken away in our prime."

The more she learned about her, the more she realized that Chel was the real deal. She was the cunning, crafty criminal that you see in all those shows and movies, except in the flesh. She liked and respected Chel, but there's always that ounce of distrust that you must have in people, and prison was no exception to this. As fun as it was to meet her, there were still higher priorities at hand.

After a pause in their conversation, Kida casually stretched her arms."Well, it's been a long day and I'm getting tired," she yawned. She pointed towards the bread that was in their cell. "Do you want that? I don't feel like eating and I think I'm going to turn in for the day." Plus, that means I won't have to use that toilet anytime soon. "It must be close to curfew, too, so how do we go on about deciding who gets the bed?" Kida stood up, getting off of the mattress.

"I'll take half the bread. We should save as much as we can." Chel said, taking the bread off the top of the locked chest. She tore it into smaller pieces and chewed slowly, taking small sips of water in between to soften the bread. "Geez, it's like a jawbreaker." she sighed, setting half back down on the chest. "I'll take the pillows, since I'm already settled." But she could always change her mind later.

"Too bad we don't have tequila to celebrate our first night in jail." Chel joked lazily. Damn. She just had to bring it up and torture herself. She kept her back to the wall, out of habit. Kida seemed like a respectable fellow con, if there was such a thing, but Chel hadn't gotten to the top by trusting everybody. She didn't want a shiv in her back on her first day.

That would just be insulting.

Kida smiled. "I've guess all we've got is this bread and water, then." Kida kneeled in front of the bed, and reached for the water. "Just a bit," she whispered, reassuring Chel she wasn't going to do anything stupid. She flipped the cap of the bottle upside down, and poured water onto it. She filled it up and now having her own little shot cup, she returned the bottle back to Chel.

Kida raised up the cap in the air. "Cheers, for our first night." And one of the only nights, she thought.
