Emptiness [TAG: CALE]

Dimitri woke up, rather confused. He couldn't remember having fallen asleep, and frankly he believed he'd be up all night, incapable of sleep after his fight with Megara. Then a thought hit him, he might not have fallen asleep on his own.
He opened his eyes wide and sat up, frightened by the intense headache it provoked. He had been right, he'd been gassed. He looked around, though he knew he wouldn't see her anywhere, and almost frowned at the man he found laying by the wall opposite to him. Sighing he realized it might be for the best. Though it hurt like hell, it would hurt more if he kept clinging to her. And the longer they were together, the harder it would be to get over.
He couldn't recognize the man since he laid with his back to him, so he felt a sudden chill of fear once he noticed that the man was more muscular than he was himself. He tried remembering blonde males from the folder he had learned almost by heart by now, but his headache distracted him far too much.

Cale rolled onto his back with a loud groan, he'd been sleeping on his wounded shoulder and his body ached. He wondered if Anya had gotten bored of sleeping next to him as he felt a lot more uncomfortable without her presence beside him. He opened his eyes to see if he could place her, but immediately closed them again when the sudden brightness hit his eyes. He put his hand to his head and groaned again, his head hurt more than usual but he tried not to think about it as he lay there waiting for the pain to subside.

It seemed his cellmate had woken up, and though he still feared who it could be, he was starting to get worried. The groaning and shifting made him think the man may be in pain. Had there been another game he didn't know about?
"Hey, are you okay?" he asked carefully, but not daring to crawl forward he stayed in his place. It might be the trick of a psycopath after all. He never felt safe in this place, ever. Except maybe when he was with Megara...

When he heard the male voice, he wondered if he was still dreaming, 'Anya?' he muttered confused as he lifted his head slightly to look around the room.
After a few seconds he noticed the guy at the other end of the room, frowning slightly when he realised who it was, 'oh great,' he said, louder than he had meant to as he dropped his head back to the floor. He lightly massaged his wounded shoulder as he remembered what the guy had done to him during that game.

Dimitri flinched as the guy turned around and he realized who it was. In one way he was glad it was him, as he'd read his folder-page and knew he wasn't as bad as most of the people in here but.. at the same time he wondered whether he'd want to take revenge for the last time they met... Dimitri hadn't meant any harm by it, he just hadn't wanted to die..
His heart sank as his suspicions of how little he was liked was confirmed, and he prepared for the worst, both mentally and physically. He'd be no match for the guy, it seemed like he'd been in fights his entire life and Dimitri... well... Dimitri was Dimitri..

Cale stared up at the ceiling in silence. I guess this could be worse, he thought, glancing briefly at the guy as he remembered what he was like during the game, then again, it could be a lot better. He sighed, wondering if Odette was ok, wherever she was in this place.

Cale eventually sat up and stared at the guy, 'so,' he started, a lopsided grin on his face, 'how's the hair thing going?'

He put his hand to his head, feeling his hair. It had grown about an inch by now. He'd never had short hair, so he was rather curious to know how he looked, though that wasn't an option in here. There were no bathroo- wait. He turned towards the door he only now noticed in his perhipheral vision. He had a bathroom again!
He walked quickly over and opened the door to peak inside. There was no shower or tub, but at least he could do his business in private again! And there was a mirror! He just awkwardly stood and gaped at himself, completely forgetting the question he'd been asked.
He couldn't say he looked bad with his hair short like this, but it was so unusual. He'd never had short hair before. Not this short at least.

Cale smiled as he watched him rush to the bathroom. He stood up slowly, grunting slightly as he stretched and his muscles got used to being more active, having spent most of his time in his previous cell lying on the floor.

'Didn't realise you looked so good?' Cale asked and laughed when he saw his expression in the bathroom mirror.

He looked back on the man, only now realizing he was still there. He smiled a little, boyishly, not even realizing how strange it was that he was now smiling at the man he had thought would be pissed off at him. Up until now he'd even been scared of being beaten up.
"Havn't had a mirror in a month," he exclaimed, looking back horrified at how dirty he was. He hadn't even brushed his teeth in all that time. At least here he could use his finger and water, but in his last cell... damn, how did Megara keep kissing me all that time?

'At least it's growing back, unless you were starting to enjoy the way I'd butchered your hair,' he laughed as he stood next to him, watching him in the mirror, 'not used to being dirty?' he asked, smiling at his expression.

"And you are?" he asked, his smile still boyish and innocent. Who didn't wash up when they had the chance? No one wanted to smell bad and feel dirty, at least not to the extent of his knowledge. He'd never met such a person.
"How have you been? You look better," he said on a more serious note. Last time they had beat him up pretty bad.. he still had his injuries it seemed, it was nothing that would heal in just three weeks, but he looked to be in a considerably better condition than what he'd expect.

'Well, when you have no other choice you get used to it,' he said quietly, grimacing slightly as he ran his fingers through his hair.

Cale looked down at his bandages, 'I still ache, but definitely better than when you first shot me,' he said and laughed lowly as he put a hand to his shoulder, 'I kinda hope it doesn't get too much worse in here,' he mumbled to himself as he turned to look at him.

He stared at him for a while before asking, 'I remember hearing your number.. but you know I'd love to know the name of the guy who shot me.. oh and then hit me on the back of the head with the same gun,' he said and grinned as he flicked him lightly on the side of the head.

Dimitri gulped, still worried about how that first impression would affect the rest of their relationship. He didnt seem mad when speaking, but what if he was just being passive aggressive without Dimitri picking up on it? There was always a chance he misunderstood.
"Dimitri," he answered with a nervous smile. "Didnt you get a folder?" he asked. That was how he had learned Cale's name.

Cale thought about it for a moment, 'there might have been something,' he said eventually, 'I think I spent most of the time on my back in that last cell, so a folder wasn't exactly the first thing on my mind,' he grinned, even though nothing really happened between him and Anya.

'I suppose that means you know my name then,' he said before narrowing his eyes suspiciously, 'did you read anything else in there about me?'

Dimitri wasn't sure if he should answer. He knew pretty much everything, but it might aggrivate him to know that much. However, he figured it might end up worse for him if he tried to lie and didn't get away with it. He had to memorize the folder, just in case.. Cale would understand that right?
"Cale Pierce," he answered after a little silence, gulping before continuing with false bravery. "You're in here for grand theft auto and murder." He didn't know if he was missing anything. "And you're ehh... 20 something... I think.."

'You forgot about possession,' he said with a low sigh, knowing that was part of the reason why Odette was also in here right now, 'and I'm 24,' he smiled and quickly winked at Dimitri, 'am I a special exception or did you memorise the entire folder?'

He somehow blushed at that, as if memorizing it was anything to be ashamed of.
"I-I wanted to know.. in case I-I got roomed w-with an-nyone bad.." he stuttered. He didn't remember everyone's names, but he was confident that he could at least connect faces to crimes. He was still kind of vary of the fact that Cale had killed someone, but so hard Kuzco, and it wasn't as bad as he'd thought at first. But what were the chances of every crime here being an accident? Maybe he was just getting used to it, and the idea made him feel sick.

Cale laughed when he noticed him blush. He wondered who else he had been in a cell with, I can't be the worst one, can I? he thought as he looked at him.
'So, from what you know about me..' he started as he moved to lean against the wall, 'am I one of those bad people?'

A carthief and a murderer? A part of him wanted to blurt out yes, but his logic kept him from doing so. In any case, Cale didn't seem violent as of yet, so as long as Dimitri kept his distance and didn't aggrivate him he thought it was going to turn out fine. There were no real signs of an upcoming fight later on.
"Depends," he said and smiled nervously. "Are you going to kill me in my sleep?" He hadn't been with Cale in any way where they weren't in a room with other people. For now Dimitri could keep his eye on him, but what when he closed his eyes and turned his back? For all he knew Cale could be a psycopath..

Cale thought about it for a moment and decided to mess with him a little. He stared at Dimitri, his face suddenly turning serious, 'are you sure you want me to answer that question?' he said in a low voice.

Dimitri had mostly been joking, but at the answer he gulped and stared back anxiously, not sure if he dared answer. He stayed quiet as his mind couldn't come to a conclusion. For a brief moment his mind raced through all the possible ways this man would kill him once he turned his back, and he knew he probably wouldn't dare to sleep for a couple-three days...

Cale stood up and moved closer to Dimitri, the same serious expression on his face, 'what's wrong?' he said as he backed him into a corner, 'didn't you think that someone like me would have a dark side?'

Dimitri stepped backwards until his back hit the wall, and quickly looked around for any objects he could use to hit him with. Panic was getting to him, but while he tried to remain sharp and logically he remembered that Cale was already injuried. Maybe it would be enough just to hit him hard enough in any of those areas...
There was nothing in the room, but he clenched his fists and tightened his whole body in preparation of what was surely to come. Gulping he made himself ready to raise his fist, but he wasn't sure if he'd dare. He felt more scared than he'd ever been in his life, feeling like a helpless animal caught in a trap.

Cale placed his hand against the wall beside Dimitri's head and leaned in close to his face. But as he watched him, he couldn't help but laugh out loud at how scared he looked.
'You should see your face!' he said through fits of laughter, 'it's nice to know you're always on guard in here,' Cale said, managing a calm voice before collapsing into fits of laughter once again.

Dimitri was prepared to raise his knee and shov it forcefully into Cale's stomach, but he flinched once he began to laugh. What is he doing...?
When he finally realized Cale was only joking with him he relax, but not fully, he might still be agressive, and he still stood too close for comfort. In either case, he didn't know what to say now, so he simply stood, tense and blushing, eyeing Cale up and down.
