{TTW- Tag: Megara and Dimitri} A cold cell for a cold heart

"I used to work for him," Helga cried desperately, before she could stop herself. She bit her lip and cursed herself under her breath. She wasn't supposed to say that. She hoped they wouldn't figure her out that easy. Surely, if they saw her they would recognize her- since she had been their guard at one point in time.

Dimitri looked at Megara, giving her a look of confusion and fright. It was a look he thought she mirrored, but it might just have been his own mind seeing what it expected to see.
At this point, he didn't believe a word she said and gave each of her statements a fair amount of doubt. Nothing she said seemed to be consistent. Maybe she was one of those people who thrived off of lying. Perhaps she had made this whole thing up and not a word was true. How could he distinguish between what was true and what was not?
Still though.. working for the warden might explain why she knew his name, but it seemed Megara was also familiar with it.. perhaps it had just been himself who hadn't been paying enough attention.
Every time the woman behind the wall spoke up or answered a question it seemed to be the most ludicrus, shocking answer a human mind could come up with. He had heard of people who lied about everything, specially to impress, (wasn't that a psychological condition?) and he was starting to believe she was one of them. If that was the case, it only proved she was truly mentally unstable, and the thought scared him. Out of fear, he stayed quiet.

Meg nodded her head slowly, taking in Helga's answer. She turned to Dimitri and mouthed to him her thoughts. "She's a guard...or something." How else would she have worked with Korso? There was no other explaination. That had to be it. Should they keep pretending they don't know? Or should they call her out? Dimitri would probably know...

Helga tapped her fingers on the bars nervously, waiting for them to speak. She felt awkward just sitting there doing nothing. She cleared her throat and brought her trembling fingers up to her temples and held them. She really shouldn't be worrying about their opinion of her. But they could easily spread bad rumors around the prison of her, and if she was going to be here forever- she did not want everyone to hate her.

Helga didn't know what to say more. She felt like she was scaring them or intimidating them. She just sat there quietly, waiting to see if they would talk to her any further.

'Or a liar,' he mouthed back to Megara. "Either way, it's wise not to get on her bad side. Just play along," he whispered to her so quietly even he himself had problems hearing it. He didn't want to take any chances of the woman claiming to be named Helga hearing them.
"So what's your cellmate like?" he asked to change the topic. No reason why she wouldn't lie about that as well, but in that case it was a harmless lie in an unimportant topic. It felt safer somehow.

Meg pursed her lips when Dimitri suggested they go along with her. It was obvious...but then again...maybe it is smarter..."Alright.." She said softly, understanding that it would be better to stay off of her bad side.

"I don't know," Helga said, shrugging. "He is still passed out ever since Korso re-gassed us." She turned to face the young man laying on the ground. She continually kept checking to make sure he was still alive and breathing. But she worried if he didn't get something to eat or drink soon, he would die. She looked back at the bars facing the other prisoners.

"How long have you two been in here?" Helga asked, taking the attention off herself.

"Are you kidding?" he blurted shocked. "The cellswap was weeks ago!" If he still hadn't woken up, he was probably dead... He shook his head realizing how stupid he was for blurting that. It might aggrivate her if she thought they didn't believe her, but the horror of a dead man in the cell had made him speak before thinking. He coughed before beginning again.
"Two-three months for me," he said and looked over at Megara to see if she would reply. She didn't have to, and he didn't want to drag her into it if she just preferred staying quiet. It was probably enough with just him speaking. "What about you?"

She couldn't help but giggle slightly at Dimitri's sudden outburst. The gas could knock people out for a lot longer than was intended. The beauty of drugs... "I've been in for a few months..about the same." She played with her hands in her lap, running her fingertips along the fabric, back and forth. Whenever it came to telling others what her crimes were or how long she had been there, it just made her a little depressed. All it did was remind her of her parents and what she had done. Yes, he deserved it, but it would have been worth it if she could have finished the job. That bastard is going to get it someday...

Helga bit her lip and turned towards her cell mate. Dimitri was right. If he had been passed out for weeks he should be dead. But Helga had no way of knowing how long he was unconscious, she had just entered the cell days ago. She shuddered thinking about another dead body. She almost couldn't handle it any more.

She turned back to the bars towards the other inmates. "Don't you think this place is... rather odd. Very different from other prisons." She commented slowly.

She had ignored his question, which made him think she was hiding something. As if that wasn't obvious from the beginning. This girl was making him more and more suspicious by the second, but he decided not to ask again.
Megara's giggle had made him turn to her and smile. He hadn't heard her giggle before, as far as he remembered, but it was adorable. Now it seemed rather stupid that he had doubted his love for her before. He definitively loved her.
"You don't say?" he answered the woman behind the walls with a short laugh. The laugh was more to point out that he wasn't being rude more than it was truly sincere. He didn't find anything about this place funny. At all.
From the corner of his eye he noticed Megara was beginning to move nervously. She probably shared his suspicions, but he didn't want her to be scared. He let his hand slide over hers and squeeze it comfortingly, hoping it would help her somehow. For now at least, there was a wall between them. Nothing bad could happen to them.

When Helga didn't share her time in the prison, Meg shook her head slightly, her suspicions growing more every second. There's no way she's a normal prisoner. Her mind kept wavering between thoughts of Helga and that man. The thoughts about Helga were small, just wondering what her real name was and who she really was. The man on the other hand, the thoughts were deadly. What he had done, how he ruined her life, everything. Anger and frustration had started to build up in her heart, and her hands began to shake slightly as they curled into fists. But as soon as Dimitri laid his hand ontop of her, everything faded away. The anger. The frustration. Everything. Her body relaxed as her mind returned to their current conversation.

Helga's head pounded furiously. She knew they didn't believe her. She knew they were being way to skeptical. She let out a sigh and tightly gripped the cell bars. "What?" She asked, trying to control her anger. "You don't believe me?" Helga felt dizzy. She didn't want the word to get out but she was sick of being treated like an animal. She wasn't supposed to be locked in the cage. She was supposed to be guarding it! It's all wrong, so wrong.

Dimitri's heart caught in his throat when she started getting angry. This was the last thing he had wished for, hence why he had gone along with her absurd lies. He couldn't call her out, not when he didn't know what she was in for or what she was capable of.
"Of-of c-course we do," he said hurriedly. "W-why wouldn't we?" he asked, hoping he sounded believable, but he somehow doubted it. He wasn't used to lying. Instead, he turned to Megara. "R-right Megara?"
He never called her by Meg, he found her full name so much more beautiful.

Meg couldn't help but jump when Helga began to get angry. If she knew they didn't believe her, why shouldn't they just let her know? But the anger cleared that up for her. An angry prisoner was never a good one, and by her attitude, this wouldn't end well. When Dimitri asked for her response, she hesitated at first. It would be best to go along with her... "Yes, don't worry Helga, we believe you." Her voice was calm and steady, which should hopefully cover up for Dimitri's stuttering and nervousness. He's very good at lying now is he? It's kind of adorable.

Helga clenched her teeth. She felt like a child. A side of her just wanted them to know the truth, but another part wanted them to never find out. She let go of the bars and wrapped her arms around her body. She suddenly felt uncontrollably cold.

"I'm sorry," she whispered. "I don't mean to become angry at you, you've done nothing wrong." She rested her head on the bars.

She's unstable that one..
He couldn't help but stare at Megara when she told her lie so easily and convincingly. He had been right, she was very good at lying. That almost scared him. How much had she lied to him without even batting an eye? He shook the thought. She probably didn't lie about anything important. He trusted her. He had no choice in any case.
"It's okay," he answered the woman, but it wasn't. Not really. That sudden anger could be dangerous, even deadly in here.

She could feel Dimitri staring at her, but didn't turn her head to look at him, she wanted to keep her focus on Helga. It wasn't that hard to figure her out. She must have been a guard, but did something to anger Korso so now she's here with them. So he really is heartless... They needed a way to keep her calm...but how? Anything they did seemed to set her off in some way.

Helga didn't know what to say. She felt all alone. She felt cold and alone. She knew these people were only pretending to be nice to her, she's seen people act like that her whole life. All she could think about was Eva. All she wanted to do was to be in her arms, to have her hold her tightly. She bit her lip just thinking about her. Helga didn't realize how much she liked Eva. Truly liked.

Helga felt tingles inside her stomach. It felt wrong, but so right at the same time. She knew dating a woman was against society but Eva was so warm, so sweet. Helga couldn't resist. She turned toward the other cell. "Do any of you know who Eva Petrova is?" She asked calmly.

Dimitri turned to Megara. He had never heard the name before. Maybe he faintly remembered it from the folder, but he really couldn't say he knew anything about her at all. So he stayed quiet, wondering if Megara knew more about her than he did. After all, she did seem to know quite a few people.

Meg thought about Helga's question, but no one was coming to mind. "No, I don't know her..sorry." Was she important? Another prisoner?

"Oh," Helga said. And that's all she could say. She fell silent and bit her lip. "What about... Jane?" She asked, once more looking to the other cell. "Did you once know her?"

Dimitri still had no idea who the woman was talking about or why it mattered. He decided to keep quiet while the women discussed who they knew and who they didn't.
It almost felt weird. He'd be out of prison in such a short time. He hadn't even been there long, but it was strange how quick he had grown accustomed to it. He found himself wondering if he'd be mostly glad to get out, or upset to lose Megara. And Kuzco, his only real friend in ages.

"Jane..I met her once, during the wet t-shirt contest. I haven't seen her since though..Have you seen her? Is she ok?" Meg felt bad that Dimitri seemed so awkward. He obviously didn't know who those girls were. Maybe he would meet one of them..but considering how much of a short time he has left, he probably won't.

Helga's lip slightly quivered. She felt dizzy talking about Jane. She held her head up and tried to take deep breathes. "I- I don't know," she lied. Helga tried to hide the uncertainty in her voice. But her words came out shy and weak. She swallowed hard in her dry mouth. She reached for the water bottle, only to find it empty. She gave out a soft cry, so quiet she could barely even hear it. She didn't know how she was supposed to survive in here. But she wasn't weak. She was strong.

Helga took control of her breathing and tried to calm herself. She couldn't appear weak to anyone, she just couldn't
